For the last 225 years the First Baptist Church on Washington Street has been an integral part of downtown Saratoga Springs. We are committed to sharing God's love with our neighbors in new and exciting ways and we committed to maintaining and preserving of our historic building.
Our focus this year is on restoration of four stain glass windows. This involves the delicate removal, re-leading, installation, and protection of each window.
We invite you to join us in this historic preservation effort for Saratoga Springs' character-defining features of this beautiful 1855 Greek Revival church.
The Saratoga Springs Preservation Foundation has already awarded a $1,000 grant towards this project and the First Baptist Church has received a $5,000 Sacred Sites matching grant from the New York Landmarks Conservancy. Our expert contractor is All in Glass Studios Too, Inc,
We ask for your support in preserving the stained glass windows of our beautiful historic landmark building. All donations are appreciated and tax-deductible. You can make a donation through the Saratoga Springs Preservation Foundation by mail, phone (518) 587-5030, or online at www.saratogapreservation.org (please note “FBC Stained Glass Windows Fund” under Donation Note). Any gifts over $500 will receive special permanent acknowledgement. Additional naming opportunities are available for large contributions.
In December 2018, the Alfred Z. Solomon Testamentary Trust of Saratoga Springs granted the church $25,000 to restore an additional window. This is a very generous donation to the restoration of a historic building that is emerging as a center of neighbor ministry.
